Zelda Williams revealed that she uses social media sparingly, specifically to address the exploitation of her late father, Robin Williams. She emphasized the platform as a tool for dispelling misinformation and safeguarding her father’s legacy, despite the futility of the endeavor.

Recently, Williams denounced an AI-generated video circulating online, claiming to feature private content of Robin Williams discussing conspiracy theories before his tragic death in 2014. She clarified that the video was fabricated and poorly executed, noting the robotic and unconvincing nature of the voice impersonating her father.

In a poignant post, Williams criticized individuals leveraging a deceased person’s image to bolster their arguments, condemning such actions as manipulative and disrespectful. Urging respect for her father’s memory, she emphasized the importance of allowing him to rest peacefully without becoming a puppet for others’ agendas.

As a filmmaker and the director of “Lisa Frankenstein,” Williams has been vocal about her opposition to AI deepfakes, stressing the significance of consent in portraying real individuals. She highlighted the ethical implications of manipulating someone’s likeness without their consent, emphasizing the need to uphold autonomy and humanity.

Williams previously made a public plea to cease sending her AI recreations of her father, reflecting his lifelong vigilance over how his image was utilized. Notably, Robin Williams had a contentious history with Disney regarding the use of his voice in commercial ventures, a stance he maintained adamantly to safeguard his artistic integrity.

Moreover, the Robin Williams Trust established a provision limiting the posthumous exploitation of his likeness for 25 years, underscoring his commitment to preserving his image and voice. Zelda Williams expressed her determination to uphold her father’s wishes, honoring his legacy by defending his rights even after his passing.
