The Las Vegas Aces secured a 93-73 victory over the Toronto Tempo, led by A’ja Wilson’s 27 points and eight rebounds, along with Jackie Young’s 23 points and eight assists without turnovers. Chelsea Gray contributed 11 points to the win, which marked the Aces’ first game without NaLyssa Smith, who sustained a season-ending left leg injury in a previous match against Toronto.
Toronto’s offensive efforts were spearheaded by Isabelle Harrison with 15 points, Laura Juskaite with 14 points, Kia Nurse with 12 points, and Kiki Rice and Kiana Williams each contributing 10 points.
Following the win, the Aces maintained their one-game lead for third place in the WNBA playoff race, with a 27-13 record, ahead of Indiana (26-14), who defeated Connecticut 111-91.
Las Vegas took control early in the game after Young’s 3-pointer broke an 8-8 tie, leading them to maintain the lead throughout. The Aces finished the first quarter with a 27-17 advantage, shooting 50% from the field, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Toronto struggled with turnovers, committing nine in the first quarter alone.
The Aces continued their strong performance in the second quarter, entering halftime with a commanding 56-39 lead. Despite a slight dip in their three-point shooting in the quarter, Las Vegas maintained a 50% shooting accuracy overall.
Toronto’s woes continued as they committed 12 personal fouls in the first half, allowing the Aces to capitalize by making 13 of 14 free throws.
Looking ahead, the Tempo will face the Phoenix Mercury next, while the Aces are set to take on the Seattle Storm on Thursday, September 17.
