Morissette alleges that Keren Urinov is attempting to coerce her into hiring her as a tour director for 15 years and providing substantial compensation under threat of reporting her to British authorities.
The lawsuit, which includes claims of civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation, emphasizes Morissette’s refusal to succumb to blackmail tactics and her decision to seek legal recourse to expose and hold Urinov accountable for her actions.
The incident in question occurred in July 2025 when Urinov, who had been hired as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s world tour, was involved in an airport encounter during a trip from the UK to Spain for a concert. Allegedly, a bag linked to Urinov was flagged by British Border Force officials, leading to her temporary arrest on suspicion of possessing marijuana and xylazine. Subsequent investigations revealed that the bag and its contents were related to Urinov, who was ultimately released after presenting her Israeli medical marijuana license to authorities.
Following the tour’s conclusion, Urinov purportedly initiated a series of threatening communications with Morissette, demanding a fixed 15-year contract with substantial financial benefits as a means to prevent unspecified legal actions in the UK. These demands also included requests for immigration assistance and increased pay if certain conditions were not met.
The lawsuit further highlights concerns raised by Morissette regarding Urinov’s performance as the tour manager, citing incidents of financial mismanagement and undisclosed criminal history that came to light during the tour. Morissette asserts that despite her reluctance to resort to legal action, she was left with no alternative but to pursue a lawsuit to address the alleged extortion and misconduct.
