Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed frustration over receiving unsolicited beauty advice. Frederiksen, 48, shared on Instagram that upon returning from a trip to Ukraine, where she faced air raid sirens due to the ongoing war, she was greeted with a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a perceived flaw on her nose.
The Prime Minister disclosed that she has endured numerous messages critiquing her appearance over the years, including comments about her teeth, hair, and a supposed ‘wart’ on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox. Frederiksen posted a screenshot of the plastic surgeon’s offer without revealing his identity.
In her response, she firmly stated, “I’m content with my body — I don’t need a male plastic surgeon’s opinion on it!” Frederiksen, a Social Democrat and Denmark’s second female prime minister, continues her third term, positioning her as one of Europe’s most seasoned leaders. Since mid-2019, she has led Denmark, an EU and NATO member, advocating against U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland and supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
Emphasizing her acceptance of her body, especially as a woman nearing 50, Frederiksen urged individuals to engage in more meaningful conversations rather than focusing on physical attributes like her nose. She expressed feeling ‘indignant’ about unsolicited beauty remarks and extended empathy to others dealing with societal pressure to attain unrealistic standards of perfection.
Moreover, Frederiksen encouraged her followers to discuss substantial topics instead of fixating on superficial aspects. She reiterated her satisfaction with her appearance and called for a shift towards appreciating the ‘perfect imperfections’ that everyone carries daily.
