Tributes are being paid to a mother of two who tragically lost her life in a plane crash on a road in Prince George last week. Known for her active participation in the community, particularly in sports as an athlete, coach, and volunteer for her children’s teams, Garneau was described as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and friend, as well as a dedicated hockey mom who made everyone feel welcomed and included.
A fundraiser established to support her family highlighted Garneau’s role in organizing and supporting her children’s activities, emphasizing her commitment to their success and well-being. The fundraiser quickly raised over $100,000 within two days to assist Garneau’s family during this difficult time.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) taking charge of determining the cause of the plane crash. The TSB reported that the aircraft experienced engine failure, leading to the emergency landing. The plane, registered to Sekani Air Ltd., a local charter flight company, was en route to Prince George Airport from Sturdee Airstrip.
