“Defending Champs Humana-Paredes/Wilkerson Win Montreal Elite Stop”

Defending champions Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson emerged victorious with a 2-0 win at the Montreal Elite stop of the FIVB Beach Pro Tour on Friday. The Toronto pair secured their victory by defeating Brazil’s Thamela Coradello Galil and Victoria Lopes Pereira Tosta 21-13, 21-18 in Pool A action. The upcoming rounds, including the Round of 12, quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches, are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson are aiming for their third Montreal title, having previously won in 2023 and 2025, with no event held in 2024.

In other matches, Canadian duo Marie-Alex Bélanger and Lea Monkhouse faced a 2-0 defeat against U.S. pair Donlin and Denaburg (21-10, 21-17) and are set to compete against Shaw and Phillips later on Friday.

On the men’s side, Cameron Chadwick of Barrie, Ont., and Steven Abrams of Georgetown, Ont., were defeated by the U.S. duo Taylor Crabb and Andy Benesh 2-1 (23-21, 21-18, 15-12).

Canada’s Sam Schachter and Jonny Pickett are scheduled to play against Brazil’s Andre Loyola Stein and Renato Andrew Lima de Carvalho later on Friday.
