A man working as a plumber was taken into custody in the presence of his son following the discovery of his ex-partner’s decaying body concealed beneath her bed.
Concerned about Daniela Florea’s well-being after not being in contact with her for approximately ten days, a friend gained access to her apartment in Turin, Italy, leading to the shocking finding.
Upon entering the apartment, the friend immediately noticed a strong odor and promptly contacted the authorities on July 20. Subsequently, Daniela’s body was found in a storage compartment under her bed, wrapped in a white bedsheet and in an advanced stage of decomposition.
Daniela’s former partner, Daniel Trandafir, was located at his residence in Turin with their six-year-old son and the family pet following the discovery. The child has been placed under the care of a community facility.
Despite denying any involvement in Daniela’s death, Trandafir, aged 45, was arrested on suspicion of femicide, concealing a corpse, and aggravated domestic abuse after investigators observed inconsistencies in his statements regarding the last time he saw her.
According to the results of the post-mortem examination, Florea suffered severe head injuries and signs of mechanical asphyxiation, leading to her death approximately ten days before the discovery of her body.
Authorities suspect that Trandafir, who was believed to be the last person to see her alive, allegedly killed her on the night of July 9–10, concealing her body under the bed due to his refusal to accept the end of their relationship.
Daniela, a Romanian national, had moved into the apartment with her son a few months earlier after ending her relationship with Trandafir, who is also of Romanian descent. Investigators discovered that Trandafir still had keys to her apartment, providing him access to the building.
The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
