A man in Greenock, Scotland, is facing a serious ordeal as he and his pets have been under siege by a swarm of wasps for the past two weeks. Craig McDonald, 38, revealed that the aggressive insects took over his top-floor flat, leaving him and his animals continuously getting stung. The infestation has confined them to avoid the bedroom, affecting their health and well-being.

Despite reaching out to his landlord, Oak Tree Housing Association, Craig expressed disappointment in their response to address the issue. He criticized the association for downplaying the severity of the situation, initially dismissing the presence of a wasp nest due to the time of year, even though it coincides with peak wasp season. As a result, Craig is contemplating leaving his home until the infestation is resolved, highlighting the toll it has taken on his sleep and overall health.

The wasps infiltrated the bedroom through cracks in the ceiling, leading to a distressing situation for Craig and his pets. Despite attempts by pest control to address the nest, the problem persists, causing ongoing distress and physical discomfort for the occupants. The infestation occurred during the peak wasp season, a period when these insects are known to increase their nest activity and population between April and October.

Craig’s plea for urgent action from Oak Tree was met with a promise of further pest control intervention, but his absence due to the unbearable conditions forced him to seek refuge elsewhere temporarily. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, stressing the health hazards posed by the stings and the need to protect his pets from harm.

In response to the situation, Oak Tree Housing stated that they are actively engaging with Mr. McDonald to resolve the issue promptly, acknowledging the sensitivity of the matter as it pertains to an individual tenant and his residence. The ongoing battle with the wasp infestation underscores the challenges faced by residents dealing with pest-related issues, especially during peak activity seasons like the current one.
