In the latest draw for August 2026, a fortunate individual from Tyne And Wear won £100,000 with just £650 invested in Premium Bonds. This win came only four months after purchasing the winning bond in March 2026. The £100,000 prize is the second-largest available in the Premium Bonds scheme, with the top prize being £1 million.

Among the winners, one lucky person from Kent clinched a £1 million prize with a bond worth £21,000 bought in February 2026. Additionally, a winner from Hampshire and Isle of Wight secured another £1 million prize with a substantial £49,850 invested in Premium Bonds. The winning bond in this case was purchased in March 2022.

Aside from the big winners, smaller prizes were also awarded, with individuals having minimal savings in Premium Bonds, such as £20 and £30, winning £50,000 each. In total, there were 83 prizes of £100,000 and 165 prizes of £50,000 given out in August. The draw also included a significant number of £25 prizes, totaling 2,289,959.

Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, expressed delight for the winners, highlighting the significant amount of tax-free prizes awarded in August, totaling over £433 million. Premium Bonds, a savings product offered by NS&I, provide participants with a chance to win prizes through a monthly draw instead of traditional interest payments.

With odds of winning currently at 22,000 to 1 for every £1 bond, the prize fund rate for Premium Bonds stands at 3.8%. Winners are notified by email or text message and can choose to have their prize deposited into their bank account or reinvested in Premium Bonds. Participants can utilize the NS&I online prize checker tool or the Premium Bonds prize checker app to verify if they have won.

Premium Bonds continue to be a popular choice for savers, with over 22 million people currently holding them.
