Speedboat murderer Jack Shepherd has admitted to violently assaulting a woman, which involved using barbecue tongs to attack her. The incidents included striking the woman in her 50s with the tongs, pinning her down, punching her, and damaging her keys. These actions by the 38-year-old man led to his return to prison.
Shepherd was previously imprisoned for manslaughter in 2018 following the death of 24-year-old Charlotte Brown in a speedboat accident during a first date in London. He fled his trial at the Old Bailey in Georgia but was eventually extradited back to the UK to serve his sentence.
Appearing via videolink from HMP Swaleside in Kent at Isleworth Crown Court, Shepherd pleaded guilty to two counts of Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) and criminal damage. He denied charges of intentional suffocation and controlling and coercive behavior. The court decided to keep those charges on file. The assaults on the victim occurred in February and June 2025.
After being released on license in January 2024 for the killing of Ms. Brown, Shepherd faced recall to prison in September of the same year due to allegations of violence against a woman. He is scheduled for sentencing at Isleworth Crown Court on September 4.
Shepherd, originally from Exeter, Devon, was released from prison in January 2024 but was recalled for breaching his license conditions by contacting his latest victim against bail terms and missing curfew at his approved residence.
Details of Shepherd’s recall to prison were recently disclosed in a parole board report, which highlighted his new charges and recommended a public parole hearing in the future. Ms. Brown tragically lost her life when thrown from Shepherd’s speedboat in 2015 on the River Thames.
In a heartfelt statement on Good Morning Britain, Ms. Brown’s father, Graham, expressed the ongoing pain of losing his daughter and the lack of closure due to Shepherd’s absence during the trial. He thanked the public, press, police, and everyone who supported his family during this difficult time.
