Camping emerges as the ideal choice for a staycation, particularly for the younger generation, according to a recent survey. The survey revealed that 85% of individuals under 30 expressed a fondness for camping, compared to 70% overall.
The National Trust’s campsite at Great Langdale, nestled beneath Langdale Pikes in the Lake District, secured the top spot as the favored camping destination, receiving 28% of the votes from 2,000 participants. Following closely were Watermouth Valley in Devon at 19%, Red Squirrel in Glencoe, Scotland at 18%, and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park at 17%. Duchess’s Meadow in the Peak District and Cloud Farm in Devon both garnered 14% of the votes.
A significant number of respondents, nearly a quarter, believe that Britain offers the best camping experience globally. The primary reasons cited for choosing camping in the UK included reconnecting with nature (45%), exploring more of the UK (44%), spending quality time with family (37%), and cost savings (33%).
Additional appealing factors of camping included the opportunity to escape from daily life (31%), seeking peace and quiet (29%), enjoying the great outdoors (23%), stargazing (21%), and waking up to the melody of birdsong (19%).
George Wallis, representing Isuzu UK which conducted the survey, remarked on the beauty of the UK and the timeless allure of venturing to remote locations. Wallis expressed that the survey results have highlighted some remarkable camping spots in the UK, emphasizing the country’s natural beauty and the enduring appeal of setting off to secluded destinations.
