Thrill enthusiasts had to leave a popular attraction at Blackpool Pleasure Beach due to concerns of a possible derailment. The Big Dipper, one of the world’s oldest rollercoasters at the Pleasure Beach resort in Blackpool, came to a halt around 2 pm yesterday. Social media footage showed damaged wooden slats between the rails, hinting at a derailment incident.

Pleasure Beach Resort confirmed the ride’s closure for investigation purposes, clarifying that the carriages stopped rather than derailing. A spokesperson mentioned that the incident occurred at a low point in the ride, leading to a manual evacuation guided by trained operators. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and an internal inquiry is ongoing to determine the cause.

Social media buzzed with comments on the incident, with some visitors noting recent maintenance work on the track and expressing hope for a swift resolution. In a separate context, Blackpool Pleasure Beach earned recognition as the top UK destination for keeping children entertained on holiday, ranking sixth globally alongside renowned theme parks like Disney and Universal.
