Channing Tatum recently shared the straightforward eating approach he adopted to shed over five stone in preparation for a movie role. The renowned actor, famous for his performances in “Step Up” and “Magic Mike,” detailed how adhering to a consistent routine enabled him to achieve one of his most significant physical transformations.
The 46-year-old star disclosed that his key change involved delaying his first meal until approximately 3 pm daily. He then consumed two modest meals comprising meat and vegetables, pairing this regimen with extended, low-intensity cardio sessions.
During a recent interview, Tatum acknowledged that he has always found it relatively easy to manipulate his weight for film roles. However, he noted that as he has aged, the process has become more challenging.
“I used to have the ability to shed weight rapidly. I could fluctuate by nearly 25 to 30 pounds in a mere three weeks,” he remarked.
While filming a project that necessitated a “dad bod” appearance, Tatum disclosed that he weighed around 245 pounds. Subsequently, he slimmed down to roughly 172 pounds for another role, resulting in a loss of about 73 pounds, equivalent to over five stone.
Initially aiming to reach 185 pounds, Tatum found himself surpassing his goal due to the consistency facilitated by the structured environment of filming.
“My everyday life lacks consistency,” Tatum added, emphasizing how the disciplined setting of being on set helped him adhere to his daily routine.
Detailing his dietary strategy, he explained, “I practiced fasting until around 2 or 3 pm daily, followed by two light meals consisting of meat and vegetables.”
Continuing, Tatum described the regimen as involving light, extended cardio sessions and intermittent fasting, restricting eating to specific hours of the day.
Intermittent fasting, as per the NHS, may aid some individuals in reducing overall calorie consumption. Nonetheless, sustained, successful weight loss is contingent on maintaining a balanced diet and regular physical activity over the long term, rather than relying solely on a particular eating approach.
In line with insights from his personal chef and nutritionist, Aline Fiuza, Tatum typically initiates his physical transformations with fasting before transitioning to an intermittent fasting schedule, typically eating between 1 pm and 6 pm or 7 pm.
Fiuza detailed that Tatum’s diet primarily emphasizes vegetables, animal protein, nuts, and seeds, tailored to meet each role’s physical demands. As filming progresses, he gradually reintroduces three meals a day into his routine.
Earlier this year, Tatum expressed his reluctance to undergo extreme weight fluctuations, stating in an Instagram post his gratitude for his trainer and chef while declaring his decision to forgo future weight-altering roles due to the physical toll it takes.
