Armed police rushed to City Road in Walton, Liverpool this afternoon following reports of a man allegedly carrying a firearm. Merseyside Police responded to a disturbance involving three men, with one reportedly holding a gun. Upon arrival, armed officers detained a man and seized an imitation firearm without any reported injuries.
A local resident recounted hearing loud commotion around 3pm, followed by the swift arrival of armed police units to resolve the situation promptly. Subsequently, a 48-year-old man from Walton was arrested on suspicion of several offenses and remains in police custody for questioning.
Authorities are actively searching for the other two individuals involved in the altercation but have assured the public that there is no immediate threat related to the incident. Chief Inspector Andy Foster emphasized the importance of public cooperation in identifying suspects, confiscating weapons, and maintaining community safety.
Road closures were implemented temporarily but have since been lifted. Community members are encouraged to report any relevant information to assist in combating gun-related crimes for a safer environment.
