A United States military aircraft has issued an emergency distress signal with code 7700 and reportedly carried out an urgent landing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) based on information from flight tracking systems.
Code 7700, known internationally as “Squawk 7700,” is utilized by pilots to communicate an in-flight emergency, immediately notifying air traffic control of the need for priority assistance.
The aircraft is believed to have been involved in operations in southern Iran when it potentially came under fire from Iranian forces. Subsequently, it safely landed at Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE, according to reports.
Multiple American fighter jets reportedly conducted airstrikes in Iran, targeting Bandar Abbas International Airport, Iranshahr Airport, and civilian infrastructure. Iranian state television mentioned that areas in Bandar Abbas were struck by American munitions. Social media reports from the region suggest that the US has been hitting civilian infrastructure like bridges and roads, not just military targets.
These developments coincide with the US confirming its sixth consecutive night of strikes on Iran. The US Central Command stated that the strikes aimed to further diminish Iranian military capabilities. President Trump has been applying pressure on Iran to adhere to the conditions outlined in agreements and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
This remains a developing news story with more updates expected.
