Chilling footage captured the moment Mohammed Umar Khan, later identified as the perpetrator of the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Harvey Willgoose, was seen playing with a knife on the premises of All Saints Catholic high school, months before the tragic incident.

The disturbing video, filmed by Umar Khan on September 16, 2024, revealed him handling a blade at the school, providing initial evidence that he had brought a weapon onto the school grounds.

Tragically, Harvey was fatally stabbed by Umar at the Sheffield high school in February 2025. During Khan’s trial, where he was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in prison, unsettling details leading up to the murder were exposed.

An upcoming documentary series on Channel 4, ‘Murder Case: Digital Detectives’, delves into the brutal attack and the digital evidence pivotal to Khan’s conviction. The investigation uncovered escalating Snapchat disputes among Harvey, Umar, and their peers in the days preceding the tragic event, including exchanges of threats and challenges.

Further scrutiny of images on Umar’s phone depicted his inclination for posing with various weapons, including the one used in the fatal attack on Harvey.

Investigators noted that Umar exhibited a tendency to carry weapons, as evidenced by images showing him holding knives, one of which was the murder weapon. Analysis of Umar’s phone also revealed searches indicating struggles with anger management and a fascination with weapons like “Rambo knife UK” and “Zombie killer knife.”

The murder stemmed from a previous knife-related conflict within the group, but evidence revealed that the fatal stabbing was not a spontaneous act by Umar. Instead, it was the culmination of months of online tensions, his interest in weapons, and the vulnerability of a teenager failed by the systems around him.

Harvey’s family lamented his senseless and preventable death, emphasizing the need for systemic changes to prevent similar tragedies. The documentary sheds light on missed opportunities leading up to the unfortunate incident, with All Saints Catholic high school remembering Harvey as a beloved and dearly missed student.

Caroline, Harvey’s mother, expressed her determination to advocate for change in memory of her son, urging for improvements to prevent other families from enduring similar losses.

The Channel 4 program featuring this case is scheduled to air on Thursday at 9 pm.
