Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit has left the hospital following a successful lung transplant surgery, expressing her heartfelt gratitude to healthcare workers. Are Holm, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet, stated that the royal’s health is progressing well, with ongoing rehabilitation planned.

Married to Crown Prince Haakon, the princess underwent the transplant due to worsening pulmonary fibrosis, first diagnosed in 2018. In a statement, she thanked organ donors, family, and friends for their unwavering support during her challenging journey.

Additionally, she extended her appreciation to those battling fibrosis, recognizing their strength. The positive health update coincided with news of her son, Marius Borg Høiby, being released from prison after a recent conviction for rape. Høiby, the son from a previous relationship, will serve the remainder of his sentence at his stepfather’s residence under electronic monitoring, aiming to prevent future offenses.

His defense attorney confirmed Høiby’s satisfaction with the release, highlighting his intention to comply with a police-run program to prevent reoffending. The princess’s recovery and her son’s legal developments have garnered significant attention, reflecting both personal challenges and triumphs.
