Ann Widdecombe completed a newly revealed interview supporting Nigel Farage just before her untimely death, as disclosed recently. The ex-Cabinet Minister conducted the ten-minute pre-recorded interview with TWR-UK, a Christian radio station, via zoom on the previous Wednesday. The interview started at 11:54 am and concluded around 12:10 pm, only 20 minutes before the estimated time of her passing. In the interview, Widdecombe, aged 78, defended the Reform UK leader in light of an investigation by the Standards Committee regarding a £5 million payment from a Thai-based crypto billionaire. She expressed that Farage was a victim of “the politics of personal destruction” that many politicians face.
A segment of the interview, scheduled to air last week but postponed, was played on Times Radio with authorization from Widdecombe’s family on Tuesday. The interviewer, James Maidment Fullard, praised Widdecombe’s kind and compassionate nature off-air, highlighting her passion and knowledge on various topics. Maidment Fullard shared his shock upon learning of her death and emphasized Widdecombe’s dedication to engaging with the media on a wide range of issues.
Ms. Widdecombe, a former Tory minister and spokesperson for Reform UK, was found deceased in her kitchen, a day after sustaining severe injuries in her isolated cottage. Detectives are currently interrogating a 28-year-old man on suspicion of her murder, who was arrested in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, days after the incident. Counter terror authorities have taken charge of the investigation after uncovering new details, leading to the suspect’s re-arrest on terrorism-related suspicions. The man can now be detained for up to 14 days for further questioning under the Terrorism Act.
Authorities are examining CCTV footage showing the suspect handling items around the time of Widdecombe’s death. Neighbors have described him as a solitary individual, particularly after the loss of his father.
