A man was fatally attacked using his own artificial limb before the alleged perpetrator treated himself to a milkshake, a court revealed. Dwayne Tuohey, 55, who had undergone an amputation, was discovered near refuse bins with severe injuries on New Year’s Day 2026 near his residence in Leeds.

Scott Silkstone, 51, who is homeless, is currently on trial for the murder of Mr. Tuohey at Leeds Crown Court, where he refutes the accusations. The prosecution asserted that Mr. Silkstone assaulted Dwayne at his apartment, then moved him to an elevator, leaving him partially unclothed in the street before going to purchase a milkshake from a nearby store.

According to reports, when Mr. Silkstone was intercepted a few streets away shortly after the incident, he was covered in blood and purportedly mentioned, “I’ll have more injuries than him.” Prosecutor Michelle Colborne KC guided the jury through CCTV footage on Tuesday, illustrating Mr. Silkstone’s movements before and after the assault on Dwayne.

The footage captured him entering and exiting a lift at the 17-story Shakespeare Grange council high-rise in the Burmantofts area of Leeds, progressing towards Gargrave Court where Mr. Tuohey resided. Ms. Colborne stated that Mr. Silkstone showed no signs of blood on his hands initially but later returned to the victim’s flat in an agitated state.

Subsequently, blood was observed on his hands and face as he left Gargrave Court and headed back to Shakespeare Grange. The prosecution alleges that during this time, a call was made from Dwayne’s phone to a particular number, which had been dialed multiple times earlier that morning. Mr. Silkstone then reportedly returned to Gargrave Court before 7 am.

Ms. Colborne detailed Mr. Silkstone’s movements within the building, stating that he was later seen dragging Dwayne from his flat to the elevator. CCTV footage presented to the jurors depicted the two individuals in the elevator, with Dwayne lying on the floor as Mr. Silkstone stood over him. The prosecution contended that the defendant viciously attacked Dwayne in the living room, causing significant injuries.

The court was informed that Dwayne was defenseless during the assault, with evidence including blood splatter and various items, such as a prosthetic leg and a crutch, showing traces of his blood. The forensic scientist highlighted the prosthetic leg’s bloodstains and noted DNA from both individuals, suggesting it was used as a weapon.

Ms. Colborne described Mr. Silkstone’s actions post-attack as demonstrating a continued display of violence towards Dwayne, despite his incapacitation. Video footage allegedly showed Mr. Silkstone striking Dwayne numerous times with minimal resistance from the victim. The trial is ongoing.
