A 17-year-old girl named Thanchanok Donhomla, known as ‘Cake’, tragically met her untimely demise during her first visit to the bustling city. Her life came to a devastating end when her body was discovered in a suitcase in Pattaya, sparking a high-profile murder investigation.
Australian man Simon Peter Carman stands accused of Cake’s murder, with charges including concealment of a body and taking a minor for sexual purposes. The 45-year-old was apprehended as he attempted to flee the country and is currently detained in Pattaya Remand Prison.
Cake’s family and community are mourning the loss of the beloved teenager. Described as a caring and responsible individual, Cake helped her family financially by taking on tasks like washing dishes. She had embarked on the trip to Pattaya with the intention of enjoying the beach and had promised to bring back gifts for her baby cousin, a pledge left unfulfilled.
Her devastated parents expressed shock and disbelief upon receiving the tragic news, having hoped against hope for a different outcome. They embarked on a desperate search for their daughter after she went missing, only to discover the heartbreaking truth of her fate.
Despite Carman’s claims of innocence and a different version of events, authorities believe he is responsible for Cake’s death. Scratches on his body consistent with a struggle further implicate him in the crime. If proven guilty, Carman could face severe penalties, including life imprisonment or even the death penalty.
