A recent report has labeled the appointment of Peter Mandelson as the US ambassador a catastrophic decision that tarnished Britain’s reputation on the global stage. The investigation conducted by the Foreign Affairs Committee raised concerns about how Mandelson, a disgraced peer, was selected for the prestigious role in Washington, highlighting worries about national security.
Following revelations of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, Keir Starmer dismissed Mandelson in September 2025. However, the scandal continued to haunt the former PM, causing significant damage.
