Egyptian footballer Mostafa Ziko has made explosive allegations, suggesting that Argentina’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Egypt in the World Cup was fixed. This claim came amidst FIFA imposing new bans quietly.

Argentina, the defending champions, were on the brink of elimination when they fell two goals behind in Atlanta, Georgia. However, they staged a remarkable comeback, scoring three goals to keep their title hopes alive, marking one of the most memorable turnarounds in World Cup history. Nevertheless, the match was marred by controversy.

Egypt expressed outrage over a disallowed goal due to a VAR decision following an alleged foul on Nicolas Tagliafico. They were also incensed by the non-awarding of a penalty just before Argentina’s decisive goal.

Ziko, who netted Egypt’s second goal, did not hold back in his criticism, claiming, “It was a rigged game. It wasn’t our fault. That referee… it seems like this match was rigged.” He further congratulated Argentina on their potential World Cup win.

Meanwhile, off the field, two officials from the US men’s national team faced suspensions after a disappointing 4-1 loss to Belgium. FIFA announced these bans on their website, highlighting the disciplinary actions taken.

Looking ahead, the quarter-finals are set to commence with France facing Morocco at Boston Stadium. France, led by Kylian Mbappe, is favored in the encounter, with the star aiming to surpass Lionel Messi in the race for the golden boot.

The tournament has seen exciting developments, with all eight teams securing spots in the quarter-finals after intense Round of 16 matches. The upcoming fixtures promise more thrilling football action as the competition progresses.
