Police are conducting a murder investigation following the tragic death of a woman in a fire at a farm in Rochdale. The woman, in her 30s, was found deceased in stables engulfed by flames at Higher Tunshill Farm in Milnrow, Rochdale, prompting a swift response from fire crews around 12:30 pm on Friday.
Images captured at the scene depict fierce flames ravaging the structure, emitting thick, black smoke into the air. Authorities have cordoned off sections of the farm while forensic teams continue their examination.
A man in his 40s was apprehended on suspicion of murder and subsequently released on bail by law enforcement. The incident has raised speculations that the dilapidated stables may have been under renovation. Witnesses recounted witnessing the blaze and smoke spreading before emergency services arrived en masse.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Police stated, “Emergency services were alerted to a fire at Higher Tunshill Farm, Milnrow, at around 12:30 pm on Friday 3 July. Tragically, the body of a woman was discovered in the stables on the premises. The male suspect, aged in his 40s, has been bailed while investigations continue.”
