A British man passed away after falling seriously ill at an airport in Turkey just before his scheduled flight back home. David Kelly, a resident of Barrhead, Renfrewshire, Scotland, was swiftly admitted to intensive care, induced into a coma, and sustained on life support while battling for his life far away from his homeland.
His wife, Dawn, stood by his side in a Turkish hospital for a month until he was ultimately transported back on 8 June via a specialized flying intensive care unit. Despite being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, David peacefully passed away on 18 June, surrounded by his family.
His family shared the heartbreaking news of his passing through his company’s Facebook page, Barrhead Joinery. They expressed gratitude for the support received over the years and announced the closure of the business in his honor.
A fundraiser recounted how what was meant to be a peaceful holiday turned into a tragic ordeal for David and his loved ones. Despite valiant efforts, David succumbed to his illness on 18 June, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
Described as a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, David was remembered for his selflessness and willingness to help others. The community mourned his loss, expressing condolences and support for his family during this difficult time.
