Ukraine has intensified its assaults on Russian positions in Crimea, which was illegally annexed, aiming to isolate it from mainland Russia.
In a bold move, Kyiv’s special forces collaborated with Crimea resistance fighters to dismantle a crucial logistics bridge in Crimea and target over 60 Russian military sites overnight.
The escalation followed a series of drone and missile strikes on both sides of the Kerch Strait and the destruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s $3 billion bridge connecting the regions. A Ukrainian source emphasized the significance of cutting off Crimea, highlighting the strategic timing of the attack to exert maximum pressure on Putin.
President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Russia is reinforcing air defenses near Moscow and the Kerch Bridge in response to the situation. He also hinted at forthcoming justified actions in response to Russia’s continued aggression.
The attacks led by Kyiv have caused widespread power outages and fuel shortages in half of Crimea, intensifying pressure on the Kremlin to end the conflict. Ukrainian forces employed medium-range drones to target key installations, resulting in disruptions to vital infrastructure in Crimea.
The ongoing hostilities have plunged Crimea into chaos, with explosions echoing across the region and the closure of the Kerch Bridge severing the peninsula’s connection to the mainland. Despite Russia retaliating with deadly strikes across Ukraine, Kyiv remains resolute in its efforts to disrupt Putin’s energy supplies and force an end to the conflict.
