In Germany, a man took two people hostage and covered himself in gasoline at a town hall in Lengerich. The individual, identified as a 47-year-old Romanian, entered the building and barricaded himself in an office with two staff members. He proceeded to pour a flammable liquid on himself and displayed a lighter.

Authorities responded swiftly, initiating an evacuation and closing off surrounding streets. Specialized police units managed to overpower the suspect without harm to the hostages. The man, who sustained minor injuries from the flammable substance, received medical treatment.

The local police, Polizei Münster, disclosed that the incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon. The situation remains under investigation. The suspect’s actions prompted a large police presence to secure the area. The town hall and nearby streets were cordoned off as a precaution.

Following the successful intervention by law enforcement, the perpetrator was apprehended, and the hostages were confirmed safe. The road closures have since been lifted, and the suspect is receiving medical care for his injuries.
