The partner of a high-ranking Citibank official, Marianne Kilonzi, who was discovered murdered in her London residence, has been apprehended following a prolonged evasion period. Brian Kiprop Kipglagat, evading authorities for over a year, was captured by immigration officers in Tanzania as he tried to enter from a Kenyan border town.

Kipglagat, a wanted individual in connection to Kilonzi’s death, was tracked by undercover agents in Kenya upon his attempt to travel to Tanzania on a temporary permit. Subsequently, he was presented in court in Nairobi for a hearing related to the alleged homicide.

Sources mention that the UK’s Metropolitan Police sought assistance from Kenyan authorities to locate and apprehend Kipglagat, suspecting his presence on Kenyan soil. Prosecutors emphasized the seriousness of the offense, urging that he be held in custody due to flight risk concerns.

Allegations against Kipglagat include lacking a stable residence in Kenya, using multiple potentially illegitimate travel documents, and sending a text message describing the deceased’s demise as a “misfortune.” The post-mortem report on Kilonzi revealed blunt force trauma as the cause of death.

After the tragic incident, Citibank expressed condolences and stated their support for Kilonzi’s family and friends. Kenyan authorities await a formal extradition request from the UK for further legal proceedings.
