Three individuals have lost their lives in a fire that broke out in west London on Saturday evening, as confirmed by the London Fire Brigade. The incident occurred on New Zealand Way, prompting the dispatch of approximately 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines to combat the blaze that started around 6.52pm following 19 emergency calls.
London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Pat Goulbourne, speaking at the scene in White City, stated that a single-storey pavilion was engulfed in flames, with over half of the structure sustaining damage. Firefighters rescued three men from the building, who were then attended to by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. Regrettably, two of the rescued individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was transported to the hospital for further treatment but later succumbed.
The fire was reported at 6.52pm, triggering the deployment of fire crews from various stations to the location. By 9.25pm, the firefighters successfully brought the fire under control. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the London Fire Brigade’s specialist fire investigation officers in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Service, according to Mr. Goulbourne.
