Initially, Trump had canceled a $300 million renovation plan for the site, opting instead to have contractors from his hotel pool maintenance teams resurface the pool in a hue called “American Flag Blue.”
Following a delayed reopening and costs significantly exceeding the original estimate, the water in the pool quickly turned green due to algae growth. While the exact source of the algae remains unconfirmed, speculations point to residual algae in the pipes or potential issues with the pool’s filtration system. Additionally, a portion of the resurfacing material began peeling off and flapping in the wind on the water’s surface.
