One individual has been apprehended following the discovery of a Nazi flag and a suspicious container inside a vehicle in the United States. The incident took place near the Islamic Center of San Diego in Clairemont on Thursday, June 18, prompting a swift response from a bomb squad.
San Diego police officers, who were present at the Islamic Center during the incident, spotted the vehicle around 11:40 a.m. Upon stopping the vehicle and detaining the driver, authorities observed the Nazi flag and the questionable canister.
Subsequently, officers called in the Metro Arson Strike Team to assess the suspicious item. The Joint Terrorism Task Force was promptly notified and is collaborating with the San Diego Police Department.
Authorities have confirmed that there is no immediate threat to the center, and the investigation is ongoing. As a precaution, residents in the vicinity were advised to stay indoors, while nearby establishments were evacuated.
In an official statement on social media, the San Diego Police Department stated, “No explosive materials were found, and there are currently no active threats to the Islamic Center of San Diego or the surrounding community. The area near the incident remains closed as detectives continue gathering evidence. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated during this ongoing investigation.”
