A young boy, identified only by the surname Tsou, was discovered adrift on a large piece of polystyrene in the ocean after missing school. The 11-year-old student failed to show up for classes, prompting his teacher to try contacting his parents with no success. Tsou, known to be from a vulnerable family, was found floating off Zhunan Township, Taiwan, by a fisherman the following day.

Police and coastguard officers swiftly rescued Tsou and reunited him with his father, who was working in Hsinchu. Investigations suggest that Tsou may have traveled alone from Houlong Township to the seaside. The circumstances of his journey and his intentions are currently under scrutiny.

The Miaoli County Government’s Education Department is now involved, offering counseling and support for Tsou and his family. This incident brings to mind a similar event two years ago when a young boy was rescued at sea inside a floating bubble by a concerned sailor in Brazil.
