McDonald’s in Australia is adjusting the price of its well-known “cost-of-living” meal, signaling the conclusion of its price commitment. Launched in June 2024, the McSmart Meal, priced at AUD6.95, includes a Cheeseburger, Small Fries, Small Soft Drink, and a choice of side.

As Australians embraced this meal amidst the country’s high cost of living, speculations arose in April about its potential removal from menus after a customer noticed a disclaimer stating its availability until June 30, 2026.

False information circulated on social media, causing concerns among loyal customers about losing the McSmart Meal. However, McDonald’s Australia clarified that the meal will continue to be available on the menu, with a price increase of one dollar starting on July 1.

Joe Chiczewski, CEO of McDonald’s Australia, assured customers that although the 12-month price promise for the McSmart Meal ends on June 30, the commitment to value remains. The new AUD7.95 deal offers an upgraded selection, allowing diners in restaurants, drive-throughs, and the MyMacca’s app to enjoy various meal options.

Two new additions to the McSmart range include the “McSmart Plus” and the “McSmart Saver,” providing customers with more choices and value. McDonald’s hopes that the announcement of retaining the popular meal on the menu will be well received by customers.
