Man Charged in Lancashire Teen Stabbing Case

A man has been identified and charged following a stabbing incident involving a teenage girl in Lancashire. Lancashire Police responded to a call at 3.06pm on Friday, June 12, in Wood Street, Brierfield, where they discovered the 17-year-old victim with a stab wound in the back of her neck. The girl was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, where it was determined that her injuries were not life-threatening. She has since been discharged from the hospital and is recuperating at home.

Subsequently, a 30-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place. The suspect, Junaid Nawaz, 30, residing in Livingstone Walk, Brierfield, of British-Pakistani descent, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public setting. He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court the following day.

Law enforcement officials have announced heightened patrols in the vicinity and have urged anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward. The incident has sparked shock among residents in the small town of around 8,000 inhabitants, with social media users expressing relief that the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
