The daughter of a teacher who was reportedly drugged and fatally assaulted has shared a sorrowful update following the charging of four family members. Sunil Sharma, a mathematics educator from Melbourne, Australia, disappeared during a trip to India last month to supervise property renovations. He went missing on May 22 in Amritsar, Punjab, with Indian authorities suspecting foul play involving his brother in a property dispute that led to his potential murder.

Law enforcement has detained four individuals in connection with the case, although the Australian man’s body has not been recovered. Indian police have alleged that Sunil’s brother, Satish Sharma, drugged him with sleeping pills before fatally striking him with a baseball bat. They claim that the victim’s remains were disposed of in a canal, and as the search continues, the brother, along with Sunil’s sister-in-law and nephew, have been charged with various offenses.

Following their arrest, Sunil’s daughter expressed her grief on social media, emphasizing her father’s innocence in the alleged crimes. She called for maximum punishment for all involved in the orchestrated act of betrayal. She also acknowledged the outpouring of support from her father’s school community, highlighting his impact as a beloved math teacher who positively influenced numerous students.

Senior Superintendent of Police in Amritsar, Kanwalpreet Singh, stated that the motive behind the killing was greed and fraud. He detailed how the perpetrators drugged Sunil, fatally attacked him, and then engaged in fraudulent activities, including forging documents to sell property. Another individual, a property dealer, has been apprehended, with authorities actively seeking two more suspects linked to the incident.

Messages of condolences and support have been extended by the education department in Victoria and the school where Mr. Sharma was employed, recognizing his dedication and importance within the school community.
