Lloyds Banking Group has revealed its intention to shut down an additional 79 branches within the next year. This latest wave of closures will affect 31 Lloyds Bank locations and 48 Halifax branches, adding to the previously announced closure of 95 branches earlier this year.
Following the completion of these closures, Lloyds Banking Group will retain a total of 531 branches across the country. The north-west and south-east regions of England are expected to be the most impacted, with 12 branches earmarked for closure in each area. Additionally, 10 branches in London are also slated for closure.
The banking group highlighted that over 75% of the branches set for closure are located within a mile of another Lloyds Banking Group branch, and 95% have an alternative branch within a five-mile radius. A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group emphasized that customers will still have access to a wide range of banking options, including Community Bankers, Post Office services, PayPoint, as well as their mobile apps and 24/7 messaging service.
