Passengers on a Turkish flight experienced a frightening incident when their aircraft collided with a pole at Antalya International Airport. The Boeing 777’s right wing struck a radar mast while taxiing after landing, causing damage to the fuselage and triggering the deployment of oxygen masks inside the cabin.
The flight, operated by Turkish Airlines as TK2430, had just arrived from Istanbul and was maneuvering towards its parking spot when the collision occurred. The impact punctured the fuselage, dislodged storage bins, and led to the deployment of oxygen masks in multiple rows, leaving passengers in a state of panic.
Despite the chaos, all 267 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated with only minor injuries reported. A technical investigation into the incident has been initiated by Turkish Airlines, while the Turkish Ministry of Transport disclosed that the plane veered into the wrong lane on the taxiway after landing, resulting in the collision with the radar mast.
Following the evacuation and necessary assessments, the damaged aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER registered as TC-LKD, was towed to a parking area for further inspection. The 17-year-old plane, previously leased to IndiGo, sustained significant damage to its wing and fuselage, requiring extensive repairs. An ongoing investigation aims to determine the exact cause of the accident.
