Donald Trump faced embarrassment ahead of his birthday as notable figures failed to show up for his MAGA-themed White House UFC event. The much-anticipated UFC 250 event organized by Dana White on the South Lawn for Trump’s 80th birthday has not garnered the expected public enthusiasm despite being promoted as a gathering of influential Trump associates and political allies.
Although about 4,000 attendees are anticipated, the event is lacking in high-profile celebrities, even though they were personally invited by Dana White, the president and CEO of UFC. White mentioned in a recent interview with Time Magazine that invitations were extended to renowned actors, including Adam Sandler, Guy Ritchie, Tom Brady, Jared Leto, Jason Statham, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Mario Lopez. However, many of them, such as The Rock, Sandler, Leto, and Lopez, have declined the invitation.
The responses from the British invitees are yet to be confirmed, with no comments from them, the White House, or UFC. This trend underlines a growing issue for Trump in his second term, as his popularity continues to decline. Despite his claims of a massive victory in the 2024 election, his approval ratings have plummeted, with only 28 percent approval and a significant 58 percent disapproval rate in May.
The decline in Trump’s popularity has also impacted the 250th anniversary celebrations in the US, with singers backing out of a concert series on the National Mall in Washington DC upon learning of its association with Trump. In response, Trump has threatened to host a rally instead, criticizing the singers and proposing a “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY” in place of the concert.
