A fatal plane crash in Croatia has resulted in the death of at least four individuals. The incident occurred near Medulin on the Istria peninsula, as confirmed by a police report. Images from the site display the remnants of the small aircraft in a field, surrounded by emergency responders.

According to the official HINA news agency, the aircraft was of German origin, departing from Austria with its destination set for Medulin. The crash transpired around 11:20 am (0920GMT) in the Campanoz region, situated between Kastijun and Medulin, close to the Medulin airport.

Witness Nijaz Delic, a local pilot, described the tragic event as the plane spiraling in mid-air before plummeting to the ground. Details about the number of occupants onboard remain undisclosed at this time.

The aircraft involved has been identified as a Bonanza G36 model, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash. Aviation expert Zeljko Marusic highlighted the perilous nature of a spiral dive at low altitudes, emphasizing the simultaneous escalation of speed, structural loads, and altitude loss.

Marusic further explained that a spiral dive in general aviation typically follows a prior disruption in flight, such as technical malfunctions, spatial disorientation, or incorrect speed estimations. The critical moments before landing, particularly for smaller planes, present minimal time for pilots to react and limited safety margins.
