“Man Accused of Rape and Murder in Cornwall Tragedy”

A man named Edward Holden, aged 36, residing at Alexandra Place in Penzance, has been formally accused of rape and murder following the tragic death of an elderly woman in the vicinity of Helston.

The victim was found deceased at a property in Ashton on Friday, May 29, leading to Holden’s arrest and subsequent remand into custody. He is scheduled to appear before Truro Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 1, as reported by Cornwall Live.

Law enforcement officers responded to the incident at the property in Ashton shortly after midnight on May 29, according to information provided by Devon and Cornwall Police. A spokesperson for the police force acknowledged the concerns it may raise within the local community and urged against speculative discussions on social media, requesting cooperation as the investigation progresses.
