A man caused disruption at Manchester Airport by engaging in a four-hour standoff with the police, claiming he was protesting because he was denied boarding for allegedly wetting himself. The incident led to travelers abandoning taxis and walking to the departure hall as nearby roads experienced heavy traffic congestion. The drop-off and pick-up areas were closed following reports of a man seen on the wrong side of fencing on the upper level of the Terminal 2 car park.
It has been revealed that the man live-streamed part of the incident on social media, where he explained that he was not allowed to board a flight to Jamaica due to allegedly wetting himself. He expressed his frustration by causing gridlock at Terminal 2, stating he did so on principle.
The man, in his 40s, was arrested by the police on suspicion of causing a public nuisance and a public order offense. It was reported that he had previously been denied permission to board the flight because airline staff suspected him of being intoxicated and possibly urinating on himself.
Images from the scene depicted significant traffic delays in and around the airport, with witnesses describing passengers having to abandon taxis to reach their flights. The situation was eventually resolved around 4 pm, with Manchester Airport advising travelers to anticipate delays due to severe congestion. The airport thanked passengers for their understanding and patience during the disruption.
