Weather forecasts from the UK’s Met Office indicate that numerous counties across the country are set to experience heavy rainfall tomorrow. This prediction comes as temperatures continue to surpass the official heatwave threshold in certain regions, particularly in the southern parts of the UK. Today, temperatures are expected to reach 33C, followed by 29C tomorrow and Saturday in southern areas. Conversely, northern regions are forecasted to see maximum highs of 29C, 24C, and 24C over the same three-day period, as stated by the Met Office.
Despite the hot weather, the Met Office has issued several warnings for thunderstorms in recent days. The national weather service’s latest maps now show that more rain is anticipated for tomorrow, with heavy rain predicted across most of Scotland at midday. Additionally, a band of rain stretching from the southwest to Lincolnshire in England is expected to move southeastward throughout the day, reaching London by 5pm.
According to the Met Office maps, approximately 51 counties in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are likely to experience rainfall, while Wales is anticipated to remain mostly dry. The Met Office’s latest weather forecast indicates that temperatures will gradually decrease and become cooler as the current hot spell comes to an end on Friday. The forecasters mentioned that although temperatures will drop from recent highs, they will still be above average for many areas, with peak temperatures of 28C mainly in the southeast.
Chief Forecaster Chris Bulmer from the Met Office stated, “We’re now starting to see this spell of very hot weather break down. While parts of the southeast could still reach highs of 32C on Thursday, many areas will begin to feel fresher conditions moving in through Friday and into the weekend as a weak cold front moves southeast and becomes more established across most of the UK by Saturday.”
As the heat subsides, the weather is expected to become more changeable, with possible showers and thunderstorms. By the weekend, temperatures are projected to return closer to seasonal averages, accompanied by rainfall for many regions through the weekend and the beginning of the following week.
