Police are currently probing a video showing individuals wielding weapons on a Merseyside beach to determine if it is connected to a knife-related incident that resulted in a teenager being hospitalized. Merseyside Police responded to an altercation near the boating lake at Crosby beach on bank holiday Monday around 5:50 pm.

A 19-year-old woman sustained minor injuries believed to be caused by a bladed weapon and was taken to the hospital for evaluation, subsequently being discharged. A 16-year-old boy from Litherland was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and section 47 assault and has been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.

Detective Inspector Edward Barr of Merseyside Police emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and urged witnesses to come forward with any relevant information. He also mentioned the examination of a video depicting two individuals brandishing objects towards a group of people to ascertain its relation to the knife incident. Barr cautioned against speculating on social media and encouraged direct communication with the police to avoid compromising the investigation.

Armed police were deployed to the beach following the incidents, with images showing officers patrolling the area. Superintendent Phil Mullally acknowledged multiple disturbance reports at Sefton’s railway stations, beaches, and roads due to the surge in visitors enjoying the warm weather. He reminded the public to prioritize safety and respect for others while making the most of the sunny conditions.

As temperatures soared past 30C across various regions, including Merseyside, an influx of beachgoers was observed over the weekend. Merseyside Police remain vigilant against weapon-related offenses, urging the public to report any concerns promptly for swift action.
