A man was discovered deceased in his vehicle following a response by emergency services to an incident on the M80 in Scotland. Police quickly mobilized to the motorway near junction 5 at Cumbernauld after receiving a distress call around 6:20 am today.
Due to the incident, a lane was temporarily closed earlier in the day, causing potential delays for drivers between southbound junctions five and six while emergency services dealt with the situation.
Authorities have verified that the man was found deceased inside the vehicle. The family has been notified, according to the Daily Record. The man’s passing is believed to be linked to a medical condition. No foul play is suspected, and a formal report will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated, “At approximately 6:20 am on Monday, May 25, 2026, we received a call regarding the incident near junction 5, close to Cumbernauld. The individual in the vehicle was confirmed deceased. The family has been informed, and there are no indications of any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
