Three individuals, including an 8-year-old child, have been hospitalized following an incident where a vehicle struck pedestrians and then collided into a motorway service station in Cardiff Gate services near junction 30 of the M4 around 11:45 am today, as per authorities.
The police confirmed that three people, including the child and a 39-year-old man who were pedestrians, along with a 76-year-old woman who was driving the car, were taken to the hospital for treatment. A witness recounted that a black BMW car hit individuals outside the service building before crashing into the main structure itself, causing significant damage.
The witness described the scene as distressing, with bystanders attempting to lift the car off the victims. The impact shattered the windowfront of the building. The witness speculated that the driver might have experienced a medical emergency due to the speed at which the vehicle crashed into the building.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene. South Wales Police issued a statement acknowledging the incident and reported that an investigation is underway.
