Responding to the environmental hazard, Nottinghamshire County Council has issued a Stop Notice and Planning Enforcement notice to halt further dumping activities. The EA has confirmed the launch of a criminal investigation into the illicit dumping, acknowledging the escalating national issue of waste disposal.
Local residents expressed shock at the covert dumping near their idyllic community, with many unaware of the site due to the clandestine efforts of the perpetrators. Mary, a resident aged 64, voiced her dismay, highlighting the significant volume of waste dumped and the detrimental impact on the environment. Officials, including Chair of Ranskill Council Dan Simpson, recounted suspicions of irregular activities preceding the revelation of the massive dumping site.
