Prince William is making a significant move by planning to sell a portion of his Duchy of Cornwall estate worth around £500 million over the next decade. This decision is seen as a proactive step towards addressing housing and environmental challenges. William has expressed his desire to break away from traditional landownership and focus on making meaningful improvements, especially as he prepares for his future role as King.

Royal expert Jennie Bond commended William for aligning his actions with his words, emphasizing his commitment to creating positive change. The Duchy of Cornwall, established in 1337 by King Edward III, consists of 2,000 to 3,000 properties spread across 23 counties in England and Wales, covering approximately 130,000 to 140,000 acres.

Despite criticism in the past, particularly regarding his efforts to combat homelessness, Prince William remains dedicated to his cause. He aims to utilize the proceeds from the estate sale to support affordable housing initiatives and environmental projects like peatland restoration and solar panel installations. This strategic move showcases William’s leadership and sets the stage for further modernization when he ascends to the throne.
