Two individuals have lost their lives, and several others, including a seven-month-old infant, are in critical condition after a shooting incident near a popular coastal resort in Spain. The tragic event occurred late at night in El Canalillo between Balanegra and El Ejido in the province of Almeria.
The injured baby was swiftly transported to the intensive care unit at Torrecardenas University Hospital in Almeria, where the infant remains in a severe condition after sustaining two gunshot wounds. Another injured minor, an 18-month-old toddler, is also under intensive care at the same hospital.
Reports indicate that the mother of the children, who also suffered injuries, was taken to Poniente University Hospital in El Ejido. Emergency services were notified of the attack around 11:15 pm, with the perpetrator, believed to be connected to the victims, evading authorities until surrendering to the police this morning.
Local sources reveal that the suspect’s parents were among the deceased, and the youngest injured child, the seven-month-old baby, is the suspect’s son. The Civil Guard’s elite Rapid Response Group responded to the scene in El Canalillo.
The area where the tragedy unfolded is near Almerimar, a renowned tourist spot on the Costa de Almeria recognized for its sandy beaches and one of Andalucia’s largest marinas. As of now, the Civil Guard has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
