The family of a woman whose body was discovered in a car trunk is determined to seek justice for her, as the key suspect in her homicide remains at large.

Harshita Brella, aged 24, was found in a silver Vauxhall Corsa in Brisbane Road, Ilford, located in east London, on November 14, 2024. It is alleged that her spouse, Pankaj Lamba, fled to India.

During a visit to the UK, Ms. Brella’s sister, Sonia Dabas, expressed her commitment to seeking justice for her sister, stating, “her pain, strength, and memories reside within me, and I will ensure justice is served.” This statement was made while members of Ms. Brella’s family, who traveled from India, were in the UK advocating for justice.

A murder charge has been filed against her husband, Pankaj Lamba, aged 24, who also faces accusations of two counts of rape, sexual assault, and coercive behavior.

Northamptonshire Police previously disclosed their belief that Ms. Brella was strangled in Corby on the evening of November 10, with her body transported to Ilford the following day.

Ms. Brella’s mother, Sudesh Kumari, conveyed her emotions through an interpreter, stating, “She always said she was happy and content. I never imagined I would have to come here under such tragic circumstances. It saddens me to be here without her.”

During their visit, Ms. Brella’s family visited a lake where she had been sighted. Her father, Satbir Singh, shared, “Returning to this place brings me great sorrow. If she were here, I would be with her. Seeing this place now, I deeply miss my daughter.”

On the anniversary of Ms. Brella’s passing last November, Det Supt Johnny Campbell remarked, “As we commemorate Harshita Brella on the first anniversary of her passing, our thoughts are with her family and loved ones. Northamptonshire Police has been supporting Harshita’s family throughout the past year.”

He added, “In July, I had the honor of visiting India to meet with her family and return her personal belongings. Indian authorities are actively pursuing Lamba.”
