Donald Trump commenced his official visit to China with a strong reaction following the disclosure of a leaked US intelligence report indicating Iran’s sustained missile capabilities. Despite extensive US military actions, American intelligence agencies reported that Iran had restored access to a significant portion of its missile infrastructure, including launchers, storage sites, and underground facilities.
President Trump and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had previously claimed that Iran’s military had been severely weakened by Operation Epic Fury, a joint military operation with Israel. However, recent intelligence assessments revealed that Iran had regained control of most of its missile sites, launchers, and underground storage facilities, which were reported to be operational.
In a social media post on Truth Social, Trump vehemently criticized the leaked report, accusing it of spreading false information that undermines the US. He reiterated his earlier claims that Iran’s military had been obliterated, stating that the country had lost its navy, air force, and key military technologies.
Contrary to public statements, intelligence reports indicated that Iran still had a significant missile capability, including access to ballistic missiles and attack drones. The findings contradicted assertions made by US officials, including Hegseth, who had downplayed Iran’s military strength.
Despite White House claims of crushing Iran militarily, reports indicated that Iran remained capable of causing significant disruption in the region. The Iranian leadership appeared confident in withstanding US pressure and sustaining domestic control.
Responding to criticisms, White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales defended the US blockade of Iranian ports, stating that Iran was facing severe economic losses. She emphasized that Trump’s administration held the upper hand in negotiations with Iran and dismissed claims of Iran rebuilding its military as unfounded.
Acting Pentagon press secretary Joel Valdez condemned the media for allegedly promoting the Iranian regime’s agenda. He criticized reports that contradicted official statements regarding Iran’s military capabilities.
