A significant incident occurred in Middlesbrough as a large tractor crashed into the front of a house, leading authorities to suspect foul play. The tractor, which had been stolen in Yarm, was found wedged in the driveway of a terraced house on Priory Road. Cleveland Police confirmed the theft and subsequent crash early on a Saturday morning.
Following the incident, a perimeter has been set up around neighboring homes as investigations are ongoing. Detective Chief Inspector John Bonner stated that the property was unoccupied, ensuring no injuries were reported. However, as a safety measure, nearby residents were evacuated temporarily until the area is deemed secure.
The authorities are treating the incident as intentional, and the investigation is ongoing at the scene. Detective Bonner urged the public to avoid the area if possible, with additional patrols scheduled for the weekend to reassure the community. He also appealed for anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward.
According to a witness, the impact of the tractor crashing into the house was both audible and palpable. The witness described the chaotic scene, including the tractor hitting a parked car before fleeing the scene with individuals wearing masks and hoodies.
Among the damaged vehicles was a black Vauxhall Insignia belonging to Kash Ahmed, who discovered the damage upon returning to his car parked on Priory Road. Ahmed believes the tractor struck his car while maneuvering towards the house, causing it to collide with a hedge.
